Item Expanding the range of the troglobitic millipede Pseudonannolene ambuatinga Iniesta & Ferreira, 2013: insights into its distribution and conservation status (Spirostreptida, Pseudonannolenidae)(2024-06-10) Iniesta, Luiz Felipe Moretti ; Oliveira, Marcus Paulo ; Brescovit, Antonio ; Bouzan, Rodrigo SalvadorPseudonannolene Silvestri, 1895 (Spirostreptida, Pseudonannolenidae) is one of the most common genera of millipedes in Brazilian caves. To date, only three troglobitic species are known in a list of 56 species described for the genus. In this study, we report new records of the cave-dwelling species Pseudonannolene ambuatinga Iniesta & Ferreira, 2013 in Minas Gerais state. These records extend its distribution by approximately 600 km2, making it the most widely distributed cave-dwelling millipede in the country. We also provide a new assessment of its conservation status based on the records and threats to its populations.Item Everything is similar, everything is different! Trichorhina Budde-Lund, 1908 (Oniscidea, Platyarthridae) from Brazilian caves, with descriptions of 11 new species(2023) Campos-Filho, Ivanklin Soares; López-Orozco, Carlos Mario; Carpio-Díaz, Yesenia M.; Borja-Arrieta, Ricardo Luis; Gallão, Jonas Eduardo; Taiti, Stefano; Sfenthourakis, Spyros; Bichuette, Maria ElinaThe present work describes 11 new species of the genus Trichorhina from Brazilian caves in the states of Bahia, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Pará, and São Paulo. Moreover, the distribution of T. tomentosa has been expanded to include the states of Mato Grosso and Minas Gerais. Additionally, a distribution map and a key for all Brazilian species of Trichorhina, including epigean ones, are provided.Item Two new troglobitic species of Iansaoniscus from Brazilian caves (Crustacea, Isopoda, Pudeoniscidae)(2022-06-14) Cardoso, Giovanna Monticelli; Bastos-Pereira, Rafaela; Ferreira, Rodrigo LopesIansaoniscus species are troglobitic terrestrial isopods of the Pudeoniscidae family. In this work two new species are described from caves in the Bahia state, northeastern Brazil; I. leilae sp. nov. from Toca do Gonçalo cave, in the municipality of Campo Formoso; and I. paulae sp. nov. from Lapa do Bode cave in the municipality of Itaeté. Additionally, ecological notes and conservation status are provided for both new species.Item New troglobitic species of Pectenoniscus Andersson, 1960 (Isopoda: Oniscidea: Styloniscidae) from Bahia state, Brazil(2023-07-18) Cardoso, Giovanna Monticelli; Ferreira, Rodrigo LopesFive new species of Pectenoniscus are described from Bahia state: Pectenoniscus monsviridis n. sp. and Pectenoniscus revelatus n. sp. from Serra do Ramalho Karst area; Pectenoniscus archaeos n. sp. and Pectenoniscus sepultus n. sp. from Serra de Iuiú Karst area; and Pectenoniscus caesarius n. sp. from Campo Formoso Karst area. Additional notes are provided on their habitats and threats.Item A new species of Metaprosekia Leistikow, 2000 (Oniscidea, Philosciidae) from caves of the State of Mato Grosso, Brazil(2023) Campos-Filho, Ivanklin Soares; Chagas Jr, Amazonas; Sfenthourakis, Spyros; Bichuette, Maria ElinaThe present work aims to describe a new species of Metaprosekia from siliciclastic caves from Caverna Nova and Caverna Ponte de Pedra, Utiariti Formation, Municipality of Diamantino, State of Mato Grosso. Metaprosekia utiariti n. sp. easily differs from the congeneric species in the shape of male pleopods 1 and 2. Moreover, a map illustrating the lithology and hydrographic characteristics where the specimens were collected and conservation remarks are given.
