Item Cave-dwelling gastropods of Brazil: a reply to Ferreira et al. (2023)(2024-06-07) Salvador, Rodrigo B.; Silva, Fernanda S.; Cavallari, Daniel C.; Cunha, Carlo M.; Bichuette, Maria E.In 2022, we published an article in this journal entitled “Cave-dwelling gastropods (Mollusca: Gastropoda) of Brazil: state of the art and conservation”. In that study, we compiled all the available information about cave-dwelling gastropods in the country, including terrestrial and freshwater species. We focused on the troglobites but also included information regarding some troglophilic species that we deemed worthy of discussion. In 2023, Ferreira et al. also in this journal, raised concerns regarding our article. We respond to their observations here.Item A new troglobite species of Habeastrum Simone, 2019 from Brazil, and support for classification in Diplommatinidae (Mollusca, Caenogastropoda)(2020-09-16) L. Simone, Luiz Ricardo; Caracanhas Cavallari, Daniel; Brincalepe Salvador, Rodrigohe genus Habeastrum Simone, 2019 was recently described based on empty shells, counting with two troglobite species. Conchological features allowed a preliminary classification in the caenogastropod family Diplommatinidae, but this family allocation was left open to future studies. Herein, we present a detailed anatomical study of newly acquired specimens, confirming the classification in Diplommatinidae. These new specimens, from Minas Gerais state, SE Brazil, belong to a new troglobite species described herein, Habeastrum strangei sp. nov. The present records extend the genus distribution ca. 1,100 km east-northeast.Item A population study of epigean and subterranean Potamolithus snails from southeast Brazil (Mollusca: Gastropoda: Hydrobiidae)(Hydrobiologia, 2003) Bichuette, Maria Elina; Trajano, Eleonora
